I'll start.

Manual, Reasonably quick, handles well. Age does not matter.

Well, I'm not actually in the market for a car, seeing as how I'm dead broke, but I can tell you what I WILL be in the market for:

-Affordable (under $15k), safe, reliable, manual, possesses a rear differential (ie. RWD or AWD), at least 200hp, seats 5, preferably a hatchback or wagon (no vans, suvs, or crossovers), good parts availability, good handling, decent gas mileage.

lolol, If it's too vague, then:

Driven wheels don't matter

100-300 hp

Handles nicely

Needs to be manual

$1000-$15000

Texas. RWD. Preferably manual. Baby-seatable (easily, so no Mustangs). Even trade for my 2007 550i.

Actually, scratch that. If I had the budget to get said car, I'd be willing to fly out and get the right one. So change location preference to "Anywhere in the continental U.S., as long as it has zero rust", lol.

I've got a few candidates in mind but I'm gonna keep quiet and see if they come up from anyone else, also open to something I hadn't thought of... I'd consider a classic/old car if a decent one can handle daily driver use...

What I need:

UK insurance group no higher than around 23

under £2500

seat 4-5 sometimes on short trips, usually just 2

no saloon boot/trunk (staffy bull terrier goes everywhere so she'll want windows to gawp out of)

fairly reliable (don't mind a few quirks/issues, but nothing that needs real work or ££)

manual

mpg 30+ (don't mind petrol or diesel)

not Ford/GM/French

not toooo big (for my car park reasons it has to be under 6'6 and not too long - our 9-5 just about fits)

4WD/ability to do light mud & snow

Go!

Well we have one old battered but reliable but zero-option pickup in the driveway, along with two dead-reliable responsible fuel-efficient daily drivers. So clearly we need the most ridiculous, irresponsible, insane vehicle possible that is driveable, under $1500 and under 18 feet long(because that is how big our garage is).

We're in RI if that matters.

Well, it's a bit soon for me...but, I'm returning to the USA mid July after a year volunteering doing clean water projects in SE Asia. My gf (who is a teacher and is returning with me) and I want to drive cross country to visit old friends. We'll be flying into LAX and heading home to N.C. (no rush) so we will need to get a car in L.A. that will fit 6 pieces of luggage, is fairly good on MPG, reliable yet fun and should be able to be a DD once we get home. Just to make things difficult, the gf hates the idea of a station wagon. I'm thinking a 2000-ish 5 series or maybe a Volvo S40/60 or perhaps a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Price $4000-ish
